5-Day Kurinuki Workshop with Elena Renker

- 기간: 5 일 (대략)
- 위치: Coromandel Town, Waikato
Known for her expressive and intuitive approach to clay, Elena will guide participants through the traditional Japanese technique of Kurinuki, or hand-carving pots from solid blocks of clay. This workshop is designed for potters of all levels who wish to explore a deeply tactile, meditative, and intuitive approach to clay work.
Workshop Overview
The workshop will begin with a slide show presentation, where Elena will introduce her artistic approach and philosophy. She will then demonstrate how she creates her tea bowls, emphasizing fast, gestural movements that embrace spontaneity. Students will have the opportunity to create their own pieces, beginning with tea bowls before moving on to various other vessel forms.
Kurinuki is a slow and meditative process, requiring time for the clay to firm up between stages. Tea bowls alone take at least two days to complete. Over the course of the workshop, Elena will demonstrate different vessel forms, adjusting to the pace and interests of the group.
