Come and explore different techniques of hand building during this 8-week course with Iona Matheson. You will be creating unique sculptures with Iona who has extensive experience in teaching and has a solid background in sculpture.


This course is a series of eight 2.5 hour workshops spread over eight weeks and is suitable for beginners through to more experienced potters.

The aim of the course is development of hand building techniques with a focus on coiling technique. You will also gain some practice in slab building and pinch methods.

During this 8-week course you will develop coiling, slab and pinch methods to construct 3D sculptures. You can decorate your work with earthy slip hues and sgrafitto mark making. By the end of the course you will have developed your surface decoration skills while becoming more fluent in 3D forms. 


The course price includes 1 bag of Raku Clay for hand-building, basic slips and oxides used, and bisque firing of 1 x up to 50cmx50cm piece. All tools are provided but you are welcome to bring any of your own you might want to use.
